Halifax - just a short drive from the cottage, Halifax is know for its rich industrial heritage, particulary in the textile industry, which played a significant role in shaping the towns development.  Halifax was once a booming center for wool production and had a thriving textile trade, today Halifax maintains echoes of its industrial past while also embracing modern developments.  Additionally, the town is home to attractions such as the Halifax Minster, Eureka! the national childrens Museum.

Halifax also boasts beautiful natural surroundings with the nearby Peninne hills offering opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling.  The town center provides a range of amentities including shops, restauraunts and cultural venues, making it a vibrant hub for both visitors and residents alike.

Overall Hebden Bridge is cherished for its blend of natural beauty, cultural vibrancy and welcoming atmosphere, making it a popular destination for tourists.  "Happy Valley" is a critically acclaimed British crime drama series set in the Calder Valley with much of the filming taking place in and around Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge and Halifax.  The series created by Sally Wainwright, first aired in 2014 and has gained widespread interest for its writing, acting and gripping storyline.

Bronte Parsonage

Haworth - Bronte Parsonage Museum is located in West Yoorkshire. It is a historic house museum that was once the family hme of the /Bronte sisters, Charlotte, Emily amd Anne Bronte along with their brother Branwell.  The Bronte family lived in the parsonage from 1820 to 1861, and it was during this time that the sisters penned some of their most famous literary works.

Today the parsonage museum is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Bronte family and showcasing their life work.  Visitors to the museum can explore the rooms where the Brontes lived and wrote, including the dining room, the siblings shared bedroom and the kitchen.  In addition to its permanent exhibits The Bronte Parsonage Museum hosts temporary exhibitions, Literary events adn educational progams throughout the year, attracting literary enthusiasts from around the world.  The museum's surroundings in the village of Haworth with its cobbled streets and rugged moorland scenery, further add to its appeal as a destination for fans of the Brontes and Victorian literature.

Harcastle Crags - is a stunning wooded valley nestled within the south pennines near Hebden Bridge.  Its managed by the National Trust and offers visitors a serene escape into nature.  The area is renowned for its ancient woodland, dramatic rock formations and cascading waterfalls, making it a popluar destination for walkers, nature lovers and photographers alike.

The woodland trails Hardcastle crags wind through a lush canopy of trees including oak, beech and ash providing ample opportunities to spot wildlife such as birds, deer and even the occasional red squirrel.  One of the highlights of the area is Gibson Mill, a former cotton mill that has been converted into an eco-friendly visitor center and cafe. Its a great place to learn about the industrial history of the valley and enjoy a cup of Yorkshire tea in tranquil surroundings.

Rochdale Canal - is a waterway that stretches for about 32 miles between Manchester , and Sowerby Bridge, passing through the towns of Rochdale, Todmordern and Hebden Bridge along the way.  It was opened in 1804 and played a vital role in transportation of goods during the Industrial Revolution. 

The Canal was originally built to provide a direct route for transportation of coal, limestone, wool and other goods between the textile mills of Lancashire and the industrial centers of Yorkshire.  It was designed to traverse the rugged Pennine landscape, necessitating the construction of numerous locks, aqueducts and tunnels including the impressive Summit Tunnel which is over 1 mile long,  today the canal is primarily used for leisure purposes it forms part of the extensive network of canals known as the "Peninne Ring" which offers boaters the opportunity to explore some of the most scenic and historically significant areas of Northern England.

Holmfirth - offers a charming mix of nostalgia for "Last of the summer Wine" fans and the natural beauty of the Yorkshire countryside.  Whether you are a longtime fan of the show or simply looking to explore this quaint little village, Holmfirth provides a welcoming and memorable experience. Dont forget to visit Sid's Cafe one of the most iconic locations from the show.  It is located in the heart of Holmfirth and still operates as a cafe, where visitors can enjoy a cup of tea and slice of cake while reminiscing about the series.
